Growing Pains
|
In addition to children growing very fast, the rough and tumble of growing up puts a lot of strain on their spines and nervous systems. Your chiropractors are trained to help problems of the musculoskeletal system that may lead to difficulties in later life.
At ChiroClinic we often recommend that children receive regular check-ups, particularly if there has been any trauma or at each motor developmental milestone (sitting, crawling, walking, running etc). The palpation skills of our chiropractors are well-placed to detect any asymmetries very early while they can still be treated. It makes sense, the earlier the child is treated for any fault, the better. As nerve pathways will develop and be reinforced over time to support faulty movement, an early correction may allow the nervous system to reinforce correct movement to support balance and symmetry in the body.
Too many children suffer neck or back pain, headaches or other joint problems, which are put down to 'growing pains' when chiropractic may provide fast effective relief. No child should be left to cope with growing pains. Inevitably pain leads to a decrease in activity, and movement is what is needed in childhood for strengthening and nervous stimulation. If there is too little movement, too little stimulation occurs and a slowing in speed of development may occur.

Your chiropractor can detect restrictions in the spine and other joints before your child gets any symptoms - why not get your child checked before they start getting the pain? The chiropractors at the clinic can perform a spinal screening of a child's spine which involves a brief history taking and then observation of posture with possible further orthopaedic or neurological testing. This is then followed up with an explanation of the chiropractors findings and referral for further screening like an x-ray for scoliosis if necessary.
P.S. Looking for a children's vitamin? Try our Sportron 'Whizz Kids' vitamins - they are multivitamins in gummy form - as adults you'll love them - let alone the kids!
